The Power of the Bible

Hebrews 4:12 says: "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

How do we define the Bible?

The bible is “the sacred Scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament”.

How does the Bible connect to worship music?

Worship music in its truest Godly, holy form should be Biblical, meaning that it should speak the truth of God’s Word, the Bible, in the song. Worship songs are centered around the truth of the Bible and help to proclaim that truth to a church congregation.

How is the Bible powerful?

As a Christian, it is vitally important to read the Bible because God says that the Scriptures are living and active. To be able to fight against the enemy, satan, one must know what their weapon is and how to use it. As Christians, our weapon is the Word of God (the Bible).

I could go on listing all the many benefits and powers of Scripture, proven by Scripture, but instead, I would like to take this space to provide research proving the power of engaging with Scripture.

The Center for Bible Engagement compiled an extensive list of research findings from a study where they polled 40,000 people ages 8 to 80. The study indicated the following conclusions:

Effects of Engaging Three Times A Week
Condition Percentage (%) Increase / Decrease
Feelings of Lonliness -30%
Anger Issues -32%
Bitterness in Relationships -40%
Alcoholism -57%
Feeling Spiritually Stagnant -60%
Sex Outside of Marriage -68%
Sharing Faith +200%
Discipling Others +230%
